-Moved the tomato cages out of the garden and into a neat pile next to the compost pile.
-Removed
garden garbage. Thanks to Susan Weis-Bohlen who offered to place a post
on the community list-serve for anyone who might want the duck pool.
-Made repairs where the garden fence was sagging.
-Completed tilling the remaining beds.
-Raked the tilled beds so they are ready for planting.
-Began moving fresh wood chips onto the garden paths.
-Weeded beds.
-Began our mushroom garden, thanks to the garden committee:
The holes were then covered with wax.
The logs have been placed near the wood chip pile for now.
They need shade, moisture, and about a year before producing mushrooms.
Many thanks to Shane Carpenter for adding a roof to our former duck house. We will soon have a completed garden shed!
Next week, workday on Sunday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m., we begin planting!!
All the best,
Naomi
P.S.
Garden Update:
Note:
We will need to find another location for the raspberry bushes. They
are located on the sketch in an area that will interfere with the
planned Jones Trail path. Also, the "access road" referred to on the sketch is simply a cleared pathway through the tree lined area.
